Connecting communities to agriculture through education, experience, and stewardship.
The Greensport1820 Foundation exists to promote agricultural awareness, education, and community engagement by developing and supporting programs that increase public understanding of agriculture, agribusiness, and sustainable rural practices.
We envision a future where individuals and communities are deeply connected to agriculture, equipped with knowledge, inspired by hands-on experiences, and committed to sustaining rural practices, environmental stewardship, and local economic growth.
Three Pillars
We create and support programs and events that increase understanding of agriculture, agribusiness, agritourism, and sustainable rural practices through events, demonstrations, and hands-on learning experiences.
We advance agritourism initiatives that connect people with agricultural heritage while encouraging environmental appreciation and contributing to local economic development through educational tourism and community-based events.
We support continuing education in agriculture and related fields by providing scholarships to individuals pursuing academic or vocational paths that strengthen agricultural knowledge, sustainability, and rural community development.
In Action
Through programs, partnerships, and public events, we turn agricultural education into shared experience.
Host agricultural events, demonstrations, and outreach programs
Provide hands-on learning experiences for all ages in farming and conservation
Develop and support agritourism and educational community events
Promote environmental stewardship and sustainable practices
Offer scholarships for agriculture and rural-focused education as well as offering local FFA Support
The name Greensport1820 Foundation reflects the deep agricultural roots and longstanding traditions of the region, as Greensport was founded in 1820 by Revolutionary War Veteran, Jacob Green.
That time period represents a time when agriculture, land stewardship, and community were central to everyday life. Those same principles continue to guide the Foundation today — serving for education, sustainability, and community engagement.
By honoring this legacy, the Foundation connects the past to the present through programs that educate, engage, and support the future of agriculture and rural communities.
