Why “1820”?
The name Greensport1820 Foundation reflects the deep agricultural roots and longstanding traditions of the region, as Greensport was founded in 1820 by Revolutionary War Veteran, Jacob Green.
That time period represents a time when agriculture, land stewardship, and community were central to everyday life. Those same principles continue to guide the Foundation today; serving for education, sustainability, and community engagement.
By honoring this legacy, the Foundation connects the past to the present through programs that educate, engage, and support the future of agriculture and rural communities.
