Slow Season, or Go Season?
Many consider the warmer months to be the HOT season for RV travel in our area, in more ways than one. The Greensport shoreline of Neely Henry Lake is buzzing like a beehive from late April to early fall. Boats pulling skiers, swimmers enjoying the refreshing water, and families celebrating a break from school and the holidays of summer together are all part of the “busy season” here at Greensport RV Park and Marina in Ashville, Alabama.
November has been called the beginning of the slow season for RV travel by many, but around here, we know it is really the best time to hitch up and go! From cooler temperatures and stunning scenery, to cozy campfires and excellent fishing, the fall and winter seasons offer a treasure trove of reasons to unplug at Greensport RV Park… right here and now.
Campers Can Unplug From It All
We all know that the holiday season is upon us. The hustle and bustle, the running here and there, and the fewer hours of daylight can make even the coolest cucumber feel frenzied. Parties, family demands, work deadlines, school exams, shopping, cooking, and many other things will soon be vying for our time and attention. Why not also schedule time for you or your family to truly unplug from it all?
RV travelers know that nothing calms an anxious heart like a crackling campfire with a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate in hand. Sitting below the inky black sky, full of bright stars. Watching the sunset sparkle over the calm waters of the lake. Having quiet heart-to-heart conversations with friends or loved ones. These are all moments that we can easily miss when we are caught up in the chaos of life…But can we really afford to skip them?

Other Reasons To Make The Off-Season Your Season for RV Travel
If the warm and fuzzy feels, peace, quiet, and connections aren’t enough to get your trip to Greensport planned, check out these practical reasons to book your stay now!
- The fishing is “off-the-hook”… pun intended. Many species of freshwater fish become more active in cooler water. Striped Bass, Largemouth Bass, and Crappie are found in plentiful supply this time of year. Our marina has boat slips, piers, a well-stocked General Store, and plenty of shoreline waiting for you to cast a line. For more information on fishing here this time of year, visit Outdoor Alabama- Neely Henry Reservoir.
- Campfire comfort foods! Those three words probably don’t need much more explanation, but if you want to elevate your outdoor menu, visit Taste of Home- Campfire Comfort Foods for some Southern, tried and true tummy pleasers.
- Stunning views at every turn! The hardwoods have been bursting with color this week and will soon be bare against the blue sky. Don’t be fooled, though. The shedding leaves open up views we don’t have the rest of the year! Rocky outcrops, canyon gorges, waterway boundaries, and native wildlife can be seen and enjoyed more easily this time of year. Visit Outdoor Alabama- Fall Color Trail, Alabama Birding Trail, and Alabama Wildlife Federation for ideas of what to look for.
- Holiday experiences abound! It’s not hard to find “Smiles Within 60 Miles” around here. Holiday lights, merry displays, community art, decorating contests, celebrations of the new year, and more, can be found in every direction. Visit Greensport RV Park Upcoming Activities, the Greensport App, and Sweet Home Alabama- Events for many locations to visit on day trips.
- LESS visitors=MORE tranquility! If you prefer less commotion, this is the perfect time of year for you. Pull up a chair for front-row views of the lake, mountains, and your very own campfire glow… all with the peacefulness we all crave.
